Head Coach – Varsity Cheer - Middle School
Salary/Hours
- Pay: A one-time stipend of $2500.00
- Hours: To be set in conjunction with the Athletic Director
Job Summary
The Head Coach organizes, coordinates, and promotes a comprehensive athletic program designed to:
- Meet the needs and interests of the school community.
- Provide effective leadership ensuring a positive learning environment and emphasizing academic achievement.
- Demonstrate high ethics, professionalism, and serve as a positive role model for students.
This position reports to the Director of Athletics/Director of Student Activities.
Qualifications
- MPCS staff preferred.
- Knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
- Previous coaching experience desirable.
Essential Responsibilities
- Hold organizational meetings and encourage participation.
- Assess players’ skills and assign positions.
- Develop practice schedules and organize practice sessions.
- Coordinate with the athletic director on facility scheduling.
- Assign duties to assistant coaches as needed.
- Observe players and determine needs for improvement.
- Develop game strategies based on team capabilities.
- Maintain standards of student behavior and supervise athletes.
- Monitor academic performance for eligibility.
- Follow procedures for athlete injuries.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding performance.
- Comply with regulations governing athletic programs.
- Model sportsmanship and appropriate conduct.
- Promote the sport and communicate with media and organizations.
- Participate in related activities like parent nights and award ceremonies.
- Maintain records of eligibility, equipment, and performance.
- Instruct athletes on fundamentals, strategies, and safety.
- Foster sportsmanship and pride.
- Lead training, supervise staff, and attend contests.
- Ensure safety and proper supervision at all times.
- Maintain equipment and facilities safety.
- Participate in professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, operate office equipment, and perform physical activities such as climbing, standing, and lifting.
