About Bar Crenn

Bar Crenn, opened by Chef Dominique Crenn in 2018, has been newly transformed to be modeled after a Japanese listening bar. The intimate and elegant design of the bar is intended to inspire conversation and community. Host to Le Comptoir Crenn (1 Michelin star), where changing menus are cooked live in front of only six guests and are inspired by daily produce and seafood. The dining room at Bar Crenn also offers Lounge seating with light and luxurious small bites, both savory and sweet. The menu lends itself to unique pairings with wine, spirits and cocktails.

Main Roles

The Service Assistant ensures that guests have a pleasant and memorable dining experience. They are the first and last face the guests interact with and will be their "go-to" person throughout their experience. The Service Assistant eloquently introduces the concept of the wine bar and philosophy of Crenn, and will educate themselves on the dietary restrictions and celebrations of their guests. The Service Assistant also acts as a liaison between the culinary team and server assistants to make sure the ballet of food and service are properly executed. The Service Assistant will be an integral part of the overall Crenn team, and may be called upon to help execute service at Atelier Crenn, the sister restaurant of Bar Crenn.

Qualities required:

Strong food and wine knowledge 2-5 years of experience in hospitality or customer service 1 or more years of luxury or Michelin experience preferred Knowledge of relevant software programs like Toast, Sevenrooms, Tock Skilled in time management and multitasking Strong and efficient communication skills to efficiently communicate with BOH/FOH Drive revenue through salesmanship A sociable, open, attentive and positive personality, with the ability to maintain composure Demonstrated ability lead a small team Self determined deliver quality service and motivate others Culture/Values:

Essential Functions:

Prepare dining room, service station and trays according to service standards. Set up the bar and mise en place for cocktails preparation. Maintain knowledge of current menu items and beverage offerings. Ensure high standards of personal presentation and grooming. Greet and welcome guests in a prompt and courteous manner using names when possible. Establish rapport with guests to build loyalty and gather constructive feedback for guest satisfaction. Abide by Michelin standards for service and cleanliness. Upsell cocktails, wine selections and menu options according to guest preferences. Enter orders through the POS system and fire courses with correct timing. Clear and return food and beverage items to the proper area. Clean and properly mark tables between courses. Converse with guests using polished and professional language. Completes daily responsibilities and can adapt to changing priorities. Work as a team to ensure the restaurant achieves its full potential. Keep work areas tidy and well organized. Escalate any guest concerns with the Bar Manager or Wine Director. Communicate with the kitchen regarding any dietary restrictions, wait times and menu questions. Take an active role in coaching and developing junior staff. Apply service techniques consistently and with enthusiasm. Assist the FOH team in closing the POS terminal and tally cash and credit card settlements. Attends training sessions and meetings as required.

Salary Range: $23-27/hour; full-time hourly position, part-time available
