Our client is a high-growth, venture-backed AI startup building one of the most secure and scalable platforms for powering custom AI workflows. Their platform supports complex operations across industries such as healthcare, financial services, climate, and government, with security and compliance built into every layer.
The team includes experienced operators and engineers from world-class companies like Palantir, Cruise, Meta, Uber, and Google, and they are well-capitalized with strong customer traction.
This is a unique opportunity to join as a
founding engineer
and shape the technical direction of the company while working on mission-critical infrastructure that supports some of the most impactful organizations in the world. What You Will Do Build and scale backend systems and core infrastructure to power new platform features and SaaS/data integrations (TypeScript, NextJS, React, Python). Own infrastructure across Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Helm Charts, PostgreSQL, BrainTrust, vector databases, and CI/CD pipelines (Argo/Flux). Enable deployments across both cloud and cloud-prem environments for customers ranging from federal government to Fortune 50 enterprises. Lead initiatives around application security, vulnerability management, penetration testing, and container/cloud security. Develop Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) and Multi-Single Tenant (MST) architectures to support highly regulated industries. Improve platform stability, reliability, and scalability as customer usage grows. Collaborate directly with customers and go-to-market teams to ensure the platform meets user needs. Mentor engineers and contribute to raising the bar for engineering excellence across the team. Ideal Candidate Background 5-10 years of backend and infrastructure engineering experience, ideally in a high-growth startup. Track record of building reliable backend systems and infrastructure as companies scale from early stage to growth. Experience supporting regulated industries such as healthcare, fintech, or government. Strong foundation in Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, PostgreSQL, and modern CI/CD systems. Hands-on experience with security, AppSec, and cloud infrastructure hardening. Background in Computer Science, Applied Math, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (top university degree preferred). Excellent communicator and mentor, comfortable working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Prior work on BYOC and MST architectures. Experience with compliance-heavy environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2, FedRAMP). Previous startup or founding engineer experience. Exposure to vector databases and modern AI/ML infrastructure. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $160K - $220K base, plus meaningful equity. Strong runway with over $10M raised from top investors.
