Job Duties:

A

Food Service Assistant

prepares food and completes related tasks according to quality and safety standards to ensure satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals. Provides oversight for the set-up and maintenance of all front of the house service-related tasks and ensures a clean and safe service area. This position works closely with students, student managers, and limited term employees to serve customers.

Job Responsibilities:

20% Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers 20% Assists and guides student workers 20% Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities 10% Prepares a variety of basic dishes and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes 10% Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas 10% Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures 10% Coordinate and perform the set-up and clean-up of preparation, production, service areas, and equipment Key Job Responsibilities:

Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas Assists and guides student workers Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures Department: The mission of Restaurant Operations is to provide a quality dining experience at an affordable price that enhances campus life and supports the overall mission of the University. It is the responsibility of Restaurant Operations to operate in a fiscally responsible manner, contribute fair-share support to the University, and sustain adequate reserves for future growth.

Number of Positions: 3

Tentative Schedule:

Monday-Thursday: 1:00pm-9:30pm & Sunday: 9:00am-5:30pm

OR

Tuesday - Friday: 1:00pm-9:30pm & Saturday: 9:00am-5:30pm

Compensation: $15/hr-$17/hr

Required Qualifications:

Six months of food service experience in a professional setting Preferred Qualifications:

One year of food service experience in a professional setting ServSafe Certification, Food Handler or Manager certification Experience leading and /or training staff Experience in a customer service environment
