Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented
Panel Assembler
to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the complete assembly of industrial control panels-from component layout and enclosure modifications to complex wiring and final testing. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of electrical principles, a commitment to quality and safety, and hands-on experience in panel building.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret mechanical layout drawings and electrical schematics to accurately position and mount components inside enclosures.
Modify enclosures by drilling, tapping, and cutting openings for conduits, switches, and HMIs using hand and power tools.
Ensure logical component layout with proper clearance for wiring, ventilation, and maintenance, in compliance with
NEC
and
UL 508A
standards.
Install terminal blocks, wire ducts, DIN rails, and other hardware.
Collaborate with engineering to improve manufacturability and cost-efficiency of designs.
Perform point-to-point wiring of components including
PLCs
,
VFDs
, motor starters, relays, power supplies, and control devices.
Route wiring neatly through wire ducts, ensuring proper bundling, labeling, and serviceability.
Select correct wire gauges and colors per specifications and industry standards.
Execute secure wire terminations using calibrated hand tools.
Conduct in-process and final quality inspections to ensure panels meet design specifications.
Perform continuity testing with a multimeter to verify wiring accuracy and detect shorts.
Conduct power-on testing to validate panel functionality, including I/O devices, switches, and indicators.
Document discrepancies and create red-line 'as-built' markups for engineering review.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum
3 years
of hands-on experience assembling and wiring industrial control panels in a manufacturing or panel shop setting.
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
Proficiency with hand and power tools used in panel assembly (e.g., wire strippers, crimpers, drills, knockout punches).
Solid understanding of electrical theory and control components such as relays, contactors, breakers, PLCs, and VFDs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
