Position: Maintenance / Porter Worker

The Maintenance / Porter Worker is responsible for the overall maintenance of the entire complex. This position is 2/3 maintenance 1/3 porter. The maintenance / porter person orders supplies with permission of the direct supervisor to accomplish the duties.

Job Scope:

Maintain building and surrounding area (parking lot, etc.)

Order janitorial and kitchen supplies.

Maintain heating and A.C. maintenance schedule.

Make necessary repairs in and outside of facility, i.e . electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.

Stock bathrooms with paper supplies.

Maintain monitor tapes for surveillance of units.

Give assistance to other facilities when necessary.

Clean common areas like kitchens, cafeterias and offices

Vacuum all carpeted rooms and mop non-carpeted floors

Monitor and service restrooms, refill soap dispensers, toilet paper rolls, toilet seat covers and paper towels in bathrooms

Remove trash and debris

Meeting setup/tear down

Wipe down desks/file cabinets, etc. in all offices

Each role at Outreach has identified production and outcome goals. These goals may be stated as a number or as an outcome within an identified time frame. These goals are intended to provide each job holder the knowledge they need about expected performance. Accomplishments against these goals will be a discussion point in the annual evaluation.

Qualifications

Five years’ experience in building/residential housing maintenance or facilities engineering.

Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of hand tools and small power tools.

Must be computer literate.

Ability to supervise maintenance staff.

Must possess the aptitude for and skills in plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, etc. above the general maintenance level.

Professional demeanor and solid interpersonal skills required.

Clean and valid NYS driver’s license required.

Must have or obtain FDNY Certificate of Fitness (S95 and S12)

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Position Status

This is a full-time non-exempt position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and outside in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to travel among assigned sites and locations as needed.
