Butler County Ems Emt Positions

Butler County EMS is accepting applications for full-time and part-time EMTs. Position summary: Under the direction of the shift supervisor, the EMT performs general duties of pre-hospital emergency medical service. The EMT performs basic life support, performs CPR, applies dressing and manages wound care, splinting of fractures, and maintains airway. The EMT works with an MICT and under the department medical guidelines and authorized activities. Examples of work (essential functions): Provides basic life support to the sick and injured according to EMT duties; responds to request for service; transports patients to appropriate medical facility; Attends departmental training sessions; Operates emergency vehicles safely and professionally; Cleans assigned station and unit(s) daily; Completes all patient care reports, billing reports and incident reports by end of each shift; Completes daily maintenance and vehicle checksheets; Conducts daily self-training or education; Maintains station house and assures equipment is clean and in good working condition; Performs duties of EMT under the departmental medical guidelines; Provides written reports to Assistant Director on all vehicle, station, radio or medical equipment problems or request for repair immediately; Responds to 911 calls and assists in providing emergency medical treatment to the sick and injured; Stocks EMS units with supplies and equipment; Maintains professional development and continuing education as required; Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned. Abilities, knowledge, skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; Ability to convey and receive detailed or important verbal instructions to and from other workers and the general public; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of verbal communication; Ability to operate a motor vehicle is required; Ability to operate all departmental equipment and radios is required; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to reliably and predictably carry out duties; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Knowledge of county and city mapping must be maintained; Knowledge of emergency medical care and ambulance procedures; Knowledge of emergency vehicle operation and radio operations is required; Knowledge of math, including medical/infusion rate calculations as well as medical documentation; Skill in oral and written communication.
