Nutrition Consultant

Jefferson County Health Department is seeking qualified Nutrition Consultants to plan, design, and implement nutrition and dietary modification programs for clinic patients and community groups. Incumbents in this role will assess clients to determine eligibility for specific nutritional services, provide guidance in making informed dietary choices, and monitor progress to ensure optimal outcomes. In addition to direct client support, Nutrition Consultants will assist with administrative functions such as inventory management, staff training, and customer service. The position also involves conducting educational programs and training sessions for the general public and various community organizations. The pay range for this job is listed below: Health Department $52,104 - $80,828. Minimum qualifications include: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Possession of licensure by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Dietetic/Nutrition Practice. Valid license to practice Dietetics/Nutrition from another state with the requirement to obtain Alabama licensure within 90 days of hire. Possession of licensure by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Dietetic/Nutrition Practice. Must obtain registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) within six months of the hire date. Preferred qualifications include: Experience providing nutrition education in a public health setting. Experience assessing the nutritional needs of individuals in various life stages. Typical job duties include: Interviewing, counseling, and providing instruction to clients. Prescribing and/or providing supplies to eligible clients. Maintaining laboratory according to federal guidelines. Engaging in activities designed to ensure professional development. Procuring and/or managing inventory. Conducting training to provide knowledge and understanding of work processes. Providing education and training to the general public. Providing customer service. Physical demands include sitting for long periods of time, occasional walking or standing for brief periods, and occasional light lifting of items or objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Work environment is conducted almost exclusively indoors in an office setting within medical or healthcare facilities.
