Position Purpose To provide work assignments which align with student interests and goals, and to develop experienced and talented candidates for PCC technical positions. Work assignments will be reviewed during the co-op period, and where feasible, modified to better align with student interests, goals, and capabilities. The incumbent is responsible for performing various and increasingly challenging technical tasks within an IT department in order to: Learn and become more proficient at those technical tasks. Augment education with work experience.
The incumbent will spend time with Help Desk issues in order to obtain a basic knowledge of the business environment and to understand the technology, applications, and users. The development and implementation of C#, VB6, and/or SQL based applications and reports based on the requests provided during the co-op period. Responsibilities Help Desk: Understand business technology and users; learn to identify root causes and manage resolutions; participate in change control. Application software maintenance: Learn software and application conventions; understand business data and functions; participate in change control. New application development: Design applications; adhere to software specifications; ensure operational efficiency and maintainability; audit processes for accuracy and variability, cycle time, reliability, and cost; assist in operator training. Process design: Plan projects; integrate with other software and systems; supervise other developers; use resources effectively; audit results and data; measure business benefits in terms of product quality, delivery, and cost.
Qualifications Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / CIS. Good understanding of .Net, C#, and SQL. Good understanding of logic, Boolean algebra, etc. Good understanding of basic PC and network hardware and printers Basic understanding of Crystal Reports a plus Good analytical skills to be able to analyze a system and understand how it works. Highly motivated and results oriented. An aggressive approach to problem solving.
