Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiology / Cardiology Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice is required Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred Must-Have: California License in hand and Interventional Radiology experience Description: Must have a valid California License and experience in Interventional Radiology. Special procedures require proficiency. Day shift of 40 hours per week with on-call required (8-10 days per month). Previous catheterization lab experience or Interventional Radiology experience is required. Responsible for performing, assisting, and completing cardiac and vascular radiographic examinations. Performs active radiographic interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab using complex equipment. Operates equipment to produce digital images of designated body parts as ordered by physicians. Positions and instructs patients for examinations and performs specialized studies. Assists physicians with specialized procedures, including special exams. Enters technical factors determined by protocol into the computer. Operates equipment to raise and lower examining table and position the x-ray tube according to physician instructions. Starts automatic injection of contrast medium into patients' blood vessels. Activates fluoroscope and motion picture camera to produce images that assist physicians in guiding catheters. Provides patients with explanations of procedures and clear discharge instructions. Monitors patient responses and alerts the physician to any changes. Maintains accurate documentation in adherence to standards. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned. Required to monitor and control environmental factors such as temperature and electrical safety. Participates in interventional procedures, such as instilling enzymes or inserting balloons in blood vessels. Adheres to safety and wellbeing standards for associates and patients.
