Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: MRI Technologist Duration: 12 months Shift: 7a-7p Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Graduate of an accredited radiography program, experience as an MRI Technologist License: ARRT Radiography registration required Certifications: ARRT MRI registration required, approved CPR or BLS certification required Must-Have: Minimum years of experience required Description: Performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts, and weekends, as well as participate in call rotation to provide quality patient care. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested. Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation. Prepares patients for procedures. Provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others. Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety, and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination. Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. Performs venipuncture, starts, and maintains venous access. Prepares and administers contrast media. Verifies consent/screening form. Uses appropriate scripting, barriers, and identifiers. Assists the physician with interventional procedures. Practices aseptic technique and observes universal precautions. Evaluates images and data for technical quality. Manipulates and reconstructs digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident. Assumes responsibility for the provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Uses radiology information systems, completes all required records and reports, archives, and submits images for physician review and interpretation.
