Claims Manager
Manage and coordinate activities of staff engaged in examining insurance claims. Ensure all claims are handled according to company and department procedures by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties assigned as needed. Review new losses to confirm contact with insured and claimant within 24 hours. Review new loss files at 7, 30, 60 and 90 days to ensure coverage issues are identified, liability investigation is progressing, confirm potential exposures are identified and files are reserved accordingly. Provide direction to adjusters on coverage issues, denials and liability determination. Review and approve all claim payments over adjuster limit. Review and Submit Reservation of Rights and coverage denial letters. Review and submit Large Loss Reports. Assist reinsurers as needed and prepare for audits. Review closed files for audit procedure quarterly. Review and assist with litigation handling for Property Damage and Bodily Injury Review and assist with UM/UIM proper claim handling for Property Damage and Bodily Injury Review and assist with complex/large exposure claim files for Property Damage and Bodily Injury Assist in training for Property Damage and Bodily Injury Direct Claimant/Fast Track department Assist in training for Property Damage and Bodily Injury for the Attorney/Complex/Litigation (Legacy) Department Manage employees in the Claims department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge/Skills: Solid experience in management of Claims Operations. Detailed oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties. Ability to analyze and problem solve, working closely with others to coordinate and complete projects. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Litigation claim handling experience (preferably in TX, AZ, NV, NM & OK) Advanced Microsoft Office Skills Must have current certificates, licenses and registrations as required.
