Job Title: Radiology Interventional Technologist Profession: Radiology Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum of 2 years with neurological case experience required License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in one of the following: Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent - BLS certification Description: Under the direction of a Radiologist, this position specializes in the performance of procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for the examination. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients. Reviews clinical data on requisition, analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and assists the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure. Ensures that adequate supplies such as needles and catheters are on hand and properly stored. Replenishes supplies as appropriate. Actively assesses the patient condition before, during, and following all procedures. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied. May assist with the training of new personnel and/or students assigned to the division. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection, which may involve shielding of patients and selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose, using other ALARA techniques. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing images and confirming image/series counts. Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System, including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies. Demonstrates Team Member Standards of Excellence including open communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity. Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate. Documents in the medical record and within the radiology information system to support all clinical and billing functions.
