Job Summary

An Outside Sales Representative in the metal industry is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients, identifying sales opportunities, and promoting metal products and services. This role involves travel to meet with potential and existing customers, understanding their needs, and delivering effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets. This role will be to support IL, WI, MN, IA, MO, LA, MS, AR, and KS.

Customer Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current clients, understanding their unique requirements and preferences. Act as a primary point of contact for clients and address their concerns or inquiries promptly and professionally. Prospecting and Lead Generation:

Identify and target potential customers within the assigned territory through research, networking, and referrals. Conduct cold calls and outreach to generate new sales leads. Sales Presentations:

Present and demonstrate metal products and services to prospective clients, highlighting their features, benefits, and applications. Tailor sales pitches to match the specific needs and interests of each client. Product Knowledge:

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's metal products, including technical specifications and quality standards. Provide expert guidance to clients on product selection and customization options. Quoting and Pricing:

Prepare accurate and competitive price quotations in consultation with the sales team and management. Negotiate pricing and contract terms with clients to secure profitable deals. Territory Management:

Effectively manage and prioritize sales activities within the assigned territory to maximize sales growth. Create and maintain a territory plan to ensure consistent coverage and outreach. Sales Reporting:

Maintain detailed records of client interactions, sales activities, and prospects using CRM software. Generate regular reports for management to track progress and sales performance. Market Intelligence:

Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments. Provide feedback and insights to the sales and marketing teams to adapt strategies accordingly. Goal Achievement:

Set and work towards achieving sales targets and quotas established by the company. Continuously assess progress and adjust sales strategies to meet or exceed goals. Customer Support:

Collaborate with customer service and operations teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment and customer satisfaction. Address any post-sale issues or concerns to maintain strong client relationships. Required Skills

Must reside in the Illinois area (no relocation assistance will be offered) 5 - 10 years of relevant sales experience within the metals industry required. High School diploma/GED required, bachelor's degree preferred in business, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) Must possess a Valid Driver's License and be able to meet company insurability standards. Proficiency in using CRM software and sales tools. Ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory. Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services required. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service required. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective processing and distribution of material required. Understanding of company product(s) and their uses required. Knowledge of the metals industry required. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public required. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly a strong virtual presence and listening skills required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required. Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and customers required.
