Adjunct, Phlebotomy Technician – Job Description

Position Summary
Phlebotomy instructors provide both didactic and skills instruction in the Phlebotomy Technician program to prepare continuing education students for clinical experience and employment. Instructors evaluate students by a variety of means to measure progress in achieving course objectives and skills mastery and inform students of their progress.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Conduct organized classes at the instructional level to meet the educational requirements stated in the course description and objectives.
- Teach core skills related to phlebotomy and other lab techniques.
- Evaluate the progress of each student; notify students in need of remediation and/or tutoring services.
- Prepare students for required clinical course.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community.
- Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Currently Certified Phlebotomist
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist
- Knowledge of current phlebotomy protocol and procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher
- Previous teaching experience (classroom or corporate training)
- Experience using Blackboard LMS and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
