Title: Hourly Data Analyst Department: Civil & Environmental Engineering Reports To: Distinguished Professor Position Type: Staff Position Summary: The hourly data analyst will be part of an interdisciplinary team for an NSF I-Corps-funded project focused on developing and commercializing a novel PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) destruction technique using ultrasound-based technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in chemistry, chemical engineering, or environmental science, and have proven experience in research leadership, computational modeling, and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students. Prior participation in the NSF I-Corps program, including extensive customer discovery interviewing, is also desirable. Essential Functions: Oversees and guides the scientific development of the project, including reaction mechanism studies, energy optimization, and degradation pathway modeling. Collaborates with faculty investigators, graduate students, and I-Corps team members to meet research and commercialization milestones. Leverages prior I-Corps interviewing experience to contribute to market analysis, technology validation, and customer discovery strategy. Manages timelines, research deliverables, and communication with NSF I-Corps program leadership and industry mentors. Prerequisite Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely related field. Experience managing and mentoring students or junior researchers in a research or academic setting. Familiarity with ultrasound-based technologies or advanced oxidation processes is a plus. Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position. Preferred Qualifications: 0-2 years of experience in NSF I-Corps, entrepreneurship, or technology transfer activities. Knowledge of PFAS chemistry, environmental persistence, and degradation challenges. Familiarity with commercialization pathways for environmental technologies.
