Overview

Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer selected for this position will be part of a cross functional team focused on new product development and sustenance of commercial electro-mechanical products in the locks and access control markets. The selected candidate will perform electrical hardware engineering design, testing, and documentation for all project phases from concept to production.

What You Will Do

  • Develop hardware design concepts and architectures for electronic systems.
  • Work with all engineering disciplines in a team environment.
  • Support design reviews and creation of technical documentation.
  • Identify system risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve design issues, which may involve schematic changes, directing PCB layout changes, and/or component selection.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to engineering best practices and procedures.
  • Support external PCBA manufacturing contractors, internal production manufacturing, internal quality teams, and internal/external test teams with assembling and integration of the hardware components of our designs.

What You Need To Succeed

  • Experience in low power embedded electronic analog and digital circuit design.
  • Ability to work effectively with all engineering disciplines in a team environment with a good understanding of cross functional design processes.
  • Ability to develop hardware design concepts and architectures for electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture tools (Altium Designer is a plus), ECAD design, simulation, and design analysis.
  • Familiarity with PCB layout, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Proficiency with common laboratory equipment such as hand solder tools, DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and related equipment.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate manufacturing of prototype and production designs.
  • Capability to support design reviews and creation of technical documentation for the project.
  • Ability to identify system risks and develop mitigation plans; quick root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and flexible, and active participation in decision making.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to contribute to multiple projects.
  • Experience designing embedded electronics for harsh environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with RFID, Proximity, and Smart Card technologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Z-Wave, Bluetooth Low Energy, and/or Wi-Fi radio hardware is a plus.

Required Education and/or Experience

  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in product development
