Position Purpose
Under the supervision of the Director of Technology, maintain the hardware and software systems of the Bentonville School District. Meet the technology needs of end-users by troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software systems.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for all district hardware and software systems.
- Identify customer needs.
- Effect repairs of hardware and software systems per district policies and procedures.
- Evaluate software by studying user objectives; testing software compatibility with existing hardware and programs.
- Maximize use of hardware and software by training users; interpreting instructions; answering questions.
- Troubleshooting and researching problems for users.
- Recording and maintaining inventory of hardware and software.
- Document new procedures to ensure efficiency and consistency within the department when handling repeat problems.
- Provide training, service and support to both local and remote locations as needed.
- Interaction with all district departments and external vendors.
- Communicate effectively with both end users and other technical staff.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Uses district hardware and software systems.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district locations to repair hardware, install software and assist end users.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of hardware and software installation procedures.
- Knowledge of all district software applications.
- Ability to inspect, assess, troubleshoot and repair hardware and software.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of end-users.
- Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to report work orally and/or in writing to supervisor.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with staff and others.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform complex arithmetic operations.
- Analytical, problem-solving and creative-thinking skills with respect to computer-related issues.
Qualifications Profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Successful related experience and documented training in computer hardware and software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- High School diploma.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL 4 certification desirable.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
