Waste Handler Job at Sentara Health in Norfolk

Overview

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Waste Handler to support the Environmental Services Department in Norfolk, VA.

Hours/Shift: Full-Time, Evening Shift from 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and work every other weekend and every other major holiday.

Responsibilities include transporting all types of waste, including Regulated Medical Waste (RMW), Recycled, Solid and Sharps and Chemo, as assigned, practicing safe work habits through the appropriate use of dedicated waste containers. Follow procedures for transporting waste per departmental guidelines and adhere to all regulatory standards for waste collection and transport.

Work Shift: Second (Evenings)

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent, or 1 year of housekeeping/Environmental Services Department (ESD) experience in lieu of High School Education.
• Experience: 1 year of housekeeping/ESD experience required in lieu of High School Education.
• Previous Waste Handler/Biohazard Waste experience preferred.
