The City of Waco Seeks an individual to perform heavy manual labor tasks at the City of Waco landfill.

Base pay range

$16.98/hr - $16.98/hr

Minimum starting salary is $16.98 hourly, depending on qualifications.

Position Overview

Under basic supervision, performs unskilled and heavy manual labor tasks associated with landfill and transfer station disposal operations.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Driver's License
• 1 year experience in laborer work

Preferred Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent

Essential Functions

• Performs litter collection, landscape, and landfill and transfer station maintenance.
• Constructs repairs and installs landfill and transfer station litter fences.
• Assists in loading and unloading vehicles and directing customers to assigned areas for disposal.
• Directs customers to appropriate locations within the landfill transfer station for waste disposal and explains procedures and regulations.
• Assists mechanics with a variety of basic tasks as required.
• Cleans, maintains, and accounts for basic tools.
• Operates light trucks and equipment. (Mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, and sprayers).
• Obtains daily fuel tank readings.
• Coordinates temporary laborers in the collection of litter from the site.
• Will be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
