Scope of Work
Performs tire installation, repair, and general maintenance on vehicles and machinery.
Essential Job Duties
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Employee must have the ability to sit, stand, and transport self from building to building. Must be able to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites, work in extreme temperatures, be able to bend, kneel, twist, and climb to make repairs and perform heavy lifting of machinery and equipment. Employee will work with mechanical and electrical hazards while repairing vehicles and equipment.
Required Qualifications
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, and vendors in order to diagnose repairs and order materials for repair. Knowledge of proper tools in general automotive repairs. Ability to safely use tools, vehicles, and equipment such wreckers, tire hammers, and breakdown bars, tire and wheel balancers, tire machines, jacks, air impact wrenchers, forklifts, and assorted hand tools. Skill in the reading and practical application of manuals, schematics and other similar specifications used by city departments. Ability to read, measure and calculate types and sizes of materials needed and ability to reason amount of time that will be used in the actual repair process. Ability to speak, understand and follow instructions in English. High school diploma or equivalent, or minimum of 5 years of experience in general fleet service experience is required. Employee must have dependable transportation and a valid Texas Driver's license, CDL preferred. Must have a State of Texas Inspection License or ability to obtain it within 90 days.

Essential Job Duties
- Remove and install wheels and tires from vehicles and equipment, inspect wheels for any wear or defects, repair flats and balance tires.
- Respond to requests for towing and service calls.
- Performs preventative maintenance for all light and heavy equipment including but not limited to engine oil and filter changes, changing transmission, fuel, hydraulic filters, and oils etc.
- Cleans and maintains shop facilities, equipment, tools, and grounds.
- Inspects vehicles for state inspection sticker.
- Opens work orders, charges out parts, issues parts and closes work orders as required.
- Performs related duties as required.
- On call on a rotating schedule
- Willing to train in data entry using department program (AssetWorks).
