Summary
A Dock & Door Service Technician and Loading Dock Leveler is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of loading dock equipment, dock levelers, dock doors, and related systems. The technician ensures the proper functioning, safety, and reliability of equipment used in industrial, commercial, or warehouse environments. This role is essential for maintaining the efficiency and safety of loading dock operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive, safety-conscious technician with a strong technical background and excellent customer service skills. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Installation and Setup
- Install new loading dock levelers, dock doors, seals, bumpers, and related components.
- Assemble and secure mechanical and electrical components following blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Test installed equipment to ensure proper operation and safety compliance.
- Perform routine maintenance on dock equipment to prevent breakdowns, including lubrication, adjustments, and part replacements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with dock levelers and dock doors.
- Repair or replace worn-out or damaged components, including springs, cables, rollers, electrical components and motors.
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure dock equipment meets local, state, and federal regulations.
- Identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions to prevent injuries or equipment failure.
- Maintain accurate service logs and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain service needs, provide updates on work progress, and offer maintenance recommendations.
- Provide on-site training to customers on the proper use and care of dock equipment.
- Complete work orders, time logs, and inventory documentation accurately.
- Ensure all tools, vehicles, and equipment are maintained in good working order.
Requirements

- Must have a current medical card or the ability to obtain before employment begins.
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
- 5 years of experience in dock equipment service, industrial mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Forklift certification
- Scissor Lift Certification
- Arc Welding
- OSHA or other safety training certifications
- Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs.) and work in various physical positions (standing, bending, kneeling).
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally working in high, precarious places.
- Comfortable working in varying environments, including outdoor and industrial settings.
