Position Information

Job Title: Part Time - Welding Instructor

Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

  • Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Agriculture courses up to 10 hours/week.
  • Organize and teach all levels of Welding classes.
  • Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning.
  • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses.
  • Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester.
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.
REQUIRED DUTIES:
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum qualifications for disciplines on this list are any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

  • Any associate's degree and six years of experience OR
  • Any bachelor’s degree and two years of experience OR
  • The equivalent OR
  • Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area.
  • Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment.
  • OR the equivalent.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

EXPERIENCE / DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Previous teaching, employment, or student experiences that provide the candidate with the ability to successfully teach courses in welding or manufacturing.
  • Professional welding certification.
  • ASE certification or experience in other areas of automotive repair.
  • Experience working in an auto body repair, painting or refinishing shop.
  • Experience supervising and/or working with a diverse population.
  • Qualifications to work in other departments such as hydraulics, automotive technician, auto body repair, or agriculture.
  • Background in the use of technology in the classroom/laboratory.
  • Welding Inspector certification.
  • Experience in metal fabrication.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching experience which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Welding to community college students.

Physical Demands

Range/Step: Class 1 -7 (Based on Degree and Teaching Experience)

Salary Range: $1,377.25 – $2,306.66/ Per Unit

Benefits Information

PART - TIME (less than .60 FTE): Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
