Mountain Sports Operations - Team Member
The Mountain Sports Operations Team Member plays a vital role in ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient daily operations of the Mountain Sports School. This on-mountain position supports instructors, guests, and leaders by maintaining organized meeting areas, well-stocked and clean break spaces, and structured guest experiences. The role is a mix of independent tasks and team-based efforts that directly contribute to delivering world-class ski and snowboard lessons at Big Sky Resort.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an active, outdoor environment, enjoys problem-solving in real time, and is motivated to support both frontline instructors and behind-the-scenes operations. Strong skiing or snowboarding skills are required, as work involves moving across the mountain in varying weather and terrain.
Responsibilities
- Set up and take down lesson meeting areas, ensuring they are safe, clear, and well-organized
- Support instructors in coordinating groups and maintaining positive guest experiences
- Assist with the flow and organization of children’s ski and snowboard school lineups during peak times
Break Space and Facility Support
- Stock and maintain staff and guest break spaces with necessary supplies
- Keep shared areas clean, orderly, and ready for use throughout the day
- Communicate supply needs and address minor facility issues promptly
Team and Guest Support
- Provide on-the-ground assistance for Mountain Sports leadership and instructors
- Adapt to shifting priorities and respond quickly to operational needs
- Take on miscellaneous tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications
- Confident skiing or snowboarding skills to navigate the mountain safely and efficiently
- A self-motivated work style with the ability to manage tasks independently
- Comfort working with diverse groups of people, from children and parents to instructors and managers
- Strong communication skills and a positive, solution-oriented mindset
- Reliability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing mountain environment

- Meeting areas and break spaces are consistently clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Lesson lineups run smoothly with minimal confusion or delay
- Team members and instructors feel supported and able to focus on guest experiences
- Guests see a seamless operation that enhances their lesson and resort experience
- You shift smoothly between working independently and collaborating with the larger team
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Capable of overhead reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting up to 55 lbs with assistance
