As the Dangerous Goods Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the procedures and systems that guarantee compliance with regional, local, and international regulations governing the handling and transportation of dangerous goods.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, coordinate, and communicate dangerous goods processes and procedures
- Review, administer, maintain, and ensure compliance with company policies and various state and federal regulations
- Stay up to date with applicable local, state, and federal Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods regulations and legislation. Analyze potential impact on business processes. Advise senior leadership and advocate appropriate actions
- Conduct on-site or virtual audits of facility requirements related to dangerous goods, safety, and security programs and initiatives
- Review, analyze, develop, and communicate dangerous goods programs and solutions initiatives. Develop action plans as necessary
- Lead safety and security meetings, training, and continuing education
- Provide guidance and expertise to internal and external stakeholders on hazardous materials handling regulations and best practices
- Ensure that all activities related to dangerous goods handling comply with applicable local, regional, and international regulations
Requirements:
- IATA, 49 CFR and IMDG certifications
- Working knowledge of carrier defined shipping programs (UPS – WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager etc.)
- Understanding of industry-related state and federal rules and regulations
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and military experience.
- 3 years of experience with implementing all applicable dangerous goods regulations (49CFR, IMDG, IATA, TDG)
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Experience developing and delivering training programs through various methods and media
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong time and project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workloads
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner to various stakeholders.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to review and interpret regulations and technical documentation.
