Description

The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for instructing group fitness classes that enhance participants overall fitness while maintaining a safe, positive, and fun environment. Additionally, the Group Fitness Instructor will provide fitness challenges that will attain and retain participant enrollment. Classes meet either once or twice a week, and we offer morning, night and weekend classes.

We are looking for instructors specifically for a Mind and Body (Yoga, Accessible Yoga, Youth Yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi), Youth Fitness Programs, and Senior Fitness Programs. However, if you offer something else, we would love to know! Instructors must hold an up-to-date, nationally accredited certification for the class they intend to teach. This is an independent contractor position and is not considered an employee of the City of Wentzville. Contractors will receive a 1099 for work performed and are not eligible to participate in the City of Wentzville's benefits programs. Pay has a base wage of $XX for a 55-minute class plus supplemental pay based on class enrollment.

Qualifications

Essential & Ancillary Job Duties
  • Instruct fitness classes by demonstrating movements, coaching modifications modify movements as needed for individual participants
  • Monitor participant safety and adjust verbal instruction as needed to maintain a safe environment
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively before large groups when teaching and demonstrating techniques
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment
  • Complete attendance reports and instructor sign in logs consistently
  • Arrive on time for contracted work. Punctuality and reliability is a must
  • Deliver excellent customer service to participants
  • Clean and organize after each class
  • Develop positive relationships and rapport with class participants
  • Send notifications or updates to the enrolled participants of the classes you teach through phone, email, or text
  • Meet minimum enrollment requirements to run program
  • Maintain current certification(s)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Qualifications & Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • One year of fitness instruction desired
  • Up-to-date, nationally accredited fitness or personal training certification required
  • Current CPR Certification required
  • Knowledge of basic body functions and movement
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Work Environment & Physical Abilities
  • Indoor work environment
  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels
  • Work may require frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds
  • Must be able to speak and hear clearly
  • Must be able to move frequently
