ELECTRICIAN

JOB SUMMARY

Provide preventative maintenance and repairs to Electrical Equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION
  • Performs inspection, testing, and maintenance on all electrical power circuits, and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Identifies, and isolates defects in electrical circuits, motors, and equipment using proper testing equipment and methods.
  • Repairs and replaces defective electrical system components, motors, fixtures, and equipment according to the current edition of NFPA 70, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Installs new electrical wiring, electrical components, motors, light fixtures, appliances, and equipment per NFPA 70.
  • Disassembles and assembles electrical equipment and machinery to replace defective parts to ensure safe and reliable performance, and maintain manufacturers specifications.
  • Perform competently in reading technical drawings, schematic diagrams, and OEM manuals for the installation or repair/replacement of equipment.
  • Estimates quantities of materials needed for repairs, and installations. Prepares requisitions to ensure adequate materials are available.
  • Operates equipment and performs mechanical tasks to inspect, and test for proper operation following repairs.
  • Conducts, and/or oversees all required preventive maintenance on all electrical power systems and equipment.
  • Performs weekly generator testing and documents results.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory documentation required by Joint Commission.
  • Actively supports MWPH's values and exhibits excellent customer service. Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, staff and volunteers in a manner consistent with our mission.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support Plant Operations and other Depts. when required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Educational Requirements

High School diploma, or GED.

Licensure, Certification and Registration

Must hold an active Journeyman Electrician License.

Work Orientation and Experience

Minimum 5 years' experience as a licensed Journeyman Electrician. Experience in Healthcare or related field preferable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Hospital personnel, patients, visitors and Contractors on a routine basis
  • Must be able to bend conduit, pull wiring, troubleshoot circuits, install and repair motors, switches, receptacles, electric panels and lights.
  • Must be able to conduct preventive maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment, including documentation of activities, as per NFPA 70, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Must be competent in all Federal, State, and local codes in addition to trade proficiency and demonstrate compliance of all.
  • Requires lifting, carrying moderate to heavy equipment, climbing, bending and stooping. Exposure to extreme environmental conditions at times.
  • Exposure to risks associated with electric current, heavy machinery.

Interacts daily with patients, visitors, co-workers and quests.

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED
  • Will use various manual and power tools and equipment associated with the maintenance and repairs of building and equipment.
  • Operates hospital vehicles.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • No exposure to body fluids, infectious waste or blood borne disease. Employees are expected to exercise good judgment in the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to established protocol.
  • Occasional stress during emergency situations or demands.
  • Exposure to hot or cold temperatures during outside repairs or snow and ice removal.
