Human Resources Department Summary
The HR team supports the growth and well-being of our team members by fostering a positive work environment, promoting professional development, ensuring fair and competitive compensation, and providing resources for success. The HR Generalist contributes to a positive, efficient, and compliant workplace by handling employee relations, records management, benefits administration, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate HR files, records, and documentation; conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of HR systems and records; monitor required training, licensure, and certifications.
- Respond to routine HR inquiries regarding policies, procedures, benefits, and hiring processes; refer complex questions to senior HR staff as needed.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department; liaise with external benefits providers and support benefits enrollment and related events.
- Conduct employment eligibility verifications; create and promote recognition and engagement programs.
- Assist with planning and executing company-wide events (e.g., open enrollment, benefit meetings, mental health awareness).
- Support day-to-day HR functions including benefits, leave management, and performance reviews; participate in employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and assist with policy updates; stay informed on HR trends and changes in employment law.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the HR function.
Qualifications & Essential Characteristics
- Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills with handling of sensitive matters.
- Solid organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn HRIS and benefits systems; analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and addressing HR needs.
Education, Training & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required.
- 3+ years of professional Human Resources experience.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or PHR certification required.
Computer Equipment & Software
Proficiency in common office software; required program examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access.
- Typing of at least 50 wpm; proficiency with office equipment (computer, voice messaging systems, fax, photocopier).
