This is a school term, full time position beginning as soon as possible. This position provides social work services to students in grades PreK-5 in the elementary setting by connecting school, home, and community resources. Address social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs to support students' academic success and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to address emotional, behavioral, and social challenges
- Conduct assessments, crisis intervention, and develop intervention plans
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and external community agencies
- Attend and contribute to Student Support Team (SST), IEP, and 504 meetings
- Maintain confidentiality, documentation, and compliance with district and state policies
- Provide trainings or resources on mental health, trauma, social skills, etc.
- Respond to crisis situations (e.g. grief, abuse, threats)
- Oversee caseloads, referrals, and resource mapping
- Connect with community Mental Health and Child Protection teams to help assure students are offered the resources and help available
- School Social Worker certification / Tier 3 or Tier 4 licensure (Minnesota PELSB)
- Experience working with children and families, preferably in school or community settings
- Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed practice, behavioral interventions
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Must pass background check
