About The Role We are seeking a
Senior DevOps Engineer
to provide AI/Cloud Modernization support the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO). The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of HUD’s DevOps platform and cloud-native capabilities. This role will support AI/ML modernization efforts by establishing automated pipelines, containerized microservices, data pipelines, and secure cloud infrastructure. This role collaborates closely with HUD infrastructure, operations, and AI/ML teams to ensure scalable, production-ready solutions.
This is a hybrid remote position based in Washington, D.C. that will require some onsite work at the customer’s location. An estimated 25% annual travel within the U.S. will be required. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps for software development, DevOps, and ML Ops initiatives. Establish and manage automated workflows for build, test, and deployment processes. Configure and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) to support new capability development. Develop and manage microservices, containerization, and declarative APIs. Implement data pipelines (Apache Kafka) and automated data validation routines. Support HUD in maturing architectures, technology stacks, coding standards, version control strategies, software integration points, and milestone plans. Embed security in DevOps workflows in coordination with the Senior Security Engineer. Document all processes, configuration management, and privacy/security compliance activities. Participate in AI/ML proofs of concept and scale pilots into enterprise-ready systems. Requirements Required Experience and Skills
7+ years of DevOps engineering experience, including CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and automation. 5+ years supporting federal IT modernization projects preferred. Experience developing AI/ML-enabled solutions and scaling POCs to production-ready systems. Expertise with microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and API design. Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform). Knowledge of federal security and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST RMF, OMB M-Memos). Previous experience in regulated/federal government environments is a plus. Previous experience supporting HUD OCIO preferred. Ability to pass required Federal background screening and obtain and maintain both government clearance and customer approval. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. Technical Skills

Candidates must reside within daily commuting distance of Washington, D.C. Pay Range The projected annual salary range for this position is $128,000-$142,000 USD.
