This class serves as the top-level staff consultant in the development of new techniques in a specialized area of forestry management, the development of new programs to provide for maximum utilization of forestry resources and the formulation and revision of policies, procedures, and guidelines; and performs other related duties as assigned. Who we are:

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of Forestry and Wildlife manages state Forest Reserves, Natural Area Reserves, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Game Management Areas, and Public Hunting Areas. Program areas include forestry, wildlife, trails and access, and natural area reserves. As the Division of Forestry and Wildlife Forester VI (Outdoor Recreation Manager)

You will be directly responsible for administering, managing, formulating, and coordinating the Outdoor Recreation Section and Na Ala Hele (NAH) Trails and Access Program. Responsibilities:

Administer, manage, formulate, and coordinate the Outdoor Recreation Section and Na Ala Hele (NAH) Trails and Access Program. Provide leadership, technical expertise, guidance, and policy to NAH Branch staff statewide on outdoor recreation and trail and access issues and activities, public safety, negotiation with private landowners, commercial ecotour operations, and database management. Qualifications:

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Graduation with a bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major study in forestry or a closely related field. Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional forestry work experience involving one or a combination of any of the following: management of forest resources, protection of forest resources, development, production, conservation, restoration, monitoring, inventory, and utilization of forest resources. At least one (1) year of the Specialized Experience must have been comparable in nature and scope to level IV in the State service. Supervisory aptitude is required. Other Requirements: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Applicants must be able to lift and carry objects of various weights unassisted and/or assisted by another person and/or use of equipment.
