Be among the first 25 applicants Overview Under the supervision of the Group Teacher and Educational Director, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for working within the framework of The Salvation Army, carrying out its functions, policies, and procedures, observing the schedules in the center, and adhering to its established personnel policies and practices. Responsibilities Supervise children at all times according to DOH and DOE regulations to ensure safety and program effectiveness. Assist in planning and executing educational, social, developmental, and health programs tailored to the needs of the children. Help develop educational goals suitable for each child's age and developmental level. Maintain accurate records of children's progress following DOE, DOH, and Salvation Army policies. Share information about children and programs with parents/caregivers as per approved plans. Keep classroom furniture, equipment, and materials in good condition and accessible. Participate in routine chores and collaborate with other staff members. Build positive relationships with parents/caregivers and colleagues. Attend staff meetings, mandatory training, and professional development activities. Assist in recruitment efforts to boost enrollment. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), NYC DOE online platforms, and Teaching Strategies. Perform other duties as assigned, aligned with program needs. Qualifications Meet the requirements set by DOE, DOH, and The Salvation Army. Possess 30 or 60 credits, a BA in ECE, or CDA. Seniority level
