Music (Director of Choral Activities), Tenure-Track Faculty at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#225040) at the rank of assistant or associate professor to serve as the Director of Choral Activities. The start date is August 1, 2026. Responsibilities

Serve as the primary leader in recruitment, artistic direction, and strategic planning for ensemble growth for all MTSU choral ensembles. Direct Schola Cantorum in rehearsal and performance. Prepare undergraduate and graduate courses in conducting, music education, and related areas based on the candidate\'s specialization. Demonstrate excellent musicianship and knowledge of standard choral literature, with a commitment to the performance of new music and current performance practice. Incorporate cross-disciplinary initiatives and engage with diverse genres. Apply current instructional strategies for K-12 and collegiate classrooms and contribute to comprehensive musical training and research at MTSU. Qualifications

Required Education: A terminal degree in conducting or music education is required by the appointment date. Required Experience: Three years of full-time teaching at the collegiate level is required. Desirable: Applicants with a minimum of three years of middle school or high school classroom teaching experience will receive special consideration. Application Materials
