The immediate vacancies are with the Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity in Halawa. Salary: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I). The Aquaculture Specialist in state service is a staff specialist which is substantially engaged in project proposal evaluation, contract preparation and execution and project monitoring; funding opportunities; reviews various complex plans, proposals and development projects for overall technical feasibility and makes appropriate recommendations. Conducts complex research and develops recommendations to aquaculture producers which involves comprehensive knowledge of industry policies, rules and regulations. Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a major in animal sciences, aquaculture, marine sciences, or a closely related field. Specialized Experience: Four (4) years of professional work experience in aquaculture commercial production, aquaculture program administration or aquaculture research. Such work must have provided knowledge in the areas of scientific and/or business elements of aquaculture. Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply. Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that they have the ability to perform the duties of the position for which they are being considered.
