The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time, Lecturer III (non-tenure track), Director of Lower Division Mathematics with a start date of August 10, 2026. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field by the appointment start date.
As the Director of Lower Division Mathematics, the successful candidate will coordinate effort, resources, and strategies to develop and maintain a collaborative ecosystem with shared responsibility for improving student success in lower division mathematics.

Responsibilities:
Alignment of course content
Evaluation of lecturers and instructors
Scheduling of lower division courses
Promotion of collegial and effective collaboration
Communication with key client departments
Collaborating closely with department staff and UNM leadership
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. by appointment date with specialization in mathematics or a related discipline
3+ years of experience as an instructor at the college level
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching
Postdoctoral teaching experience
Experience teaching a variety of courses at the lower division level
Demonstrated interest in modern student-centered pedagogical methods and innovations
Demonstrated leadership skills
Demonstrated collaboration and communication skills
Demonstrated organizational skills
Vision for the promotion of student success through lower division mathematics
Recognition of challenges faced by students in lower division mathematics
A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the university’s mission to serve local and global communities
