Description The Environmental & Occupational Health Division works with individuals, community groups, small businesses, andothers to prevent or eliminate adverse health impacts from environmental factors at home, work, school, and inpublic spaces. The Program Coordinator supports the BPHC mission by working with Division Inspectors to providein-home education, case management services, and connection to resources for clients dealing with lead poisoningand other environmental hazards. The Program Coordinator also conducts community outreach and educationefforts such as representing the Division at community events, presenting at small group meetings, outreach to small businesses, or leading classroom trainings.
Qualifications
Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the socialdeterminants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice andhealth equity. Commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues. BA/BS required OR 3 years of equivalent experience in public health program coordination, management and/or community organizing may be substituted for undergraduate degree. Licenses, certifications or program specific experience may be required by grant or program needs. Demonstrated experience or related requirements as established by the program may be needed. Experience collaborating with clients and/or providers serving a variety of populations, which may include Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) community, communities of color, substance abusepopulations, and/or women and youth. Demonstrated cultural competence with the diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic groups. Ability to prepare reports and to maintain accurate records. Ability to write clearly and concisely, and to follow and to give written and oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner. Ability to understand, explain, apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures of unit activities. Ability to establish rapport with others and to maintain harmonious working relationships with othersrequired. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated knowledge & experience with MSOffice, MSWord/Excel, Windows and/or other software. Demonstrated ability to establish effective communications and working relationships with communityagencies and providers. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate and evaluate health programs or services for thecommunity. Organizational skills with the ability to develop timelines and meet deadlines.
