Job Description: The Strategic Sourcing Manager will drive value for the business by partnering with stakeholders across multiple departments to deliver source-to-contract activities for various R&D services. This role negotiates and contracts with the supply base, ensuring alignment with established category strategies and business plans. It requires an experienced Sourcing/Procurement manager to deliver strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation. The role acts as a change agent, leading by example while aligning with the evolution of the Strategic Sourcing organization and supporting category knowledge and policy setting to enable productivity and efficiency improvements. The role includes development and execution of Sourcing Category Plans, negotiating and contracting with vendors, ensuring alignment with category strategies and business goals. Strong collaboration with business partners is essential to be a proactive advisor while maintaining knowledge of supply markets and delivery models, and leading analytics to identify sourcing opportunities. Responsibilities : Manage strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation across various R&D services. Develop and implement sourcing category strategies aligned with functional goals and business objectives. Establish relationships with key stakeholders to ensure Strategic Sourcing activities support functional strategies. Define and implement supplier management to enable a sustainable competitive advantage, with focus on supplier risk and performance management. Maintain knowledge of various R&D services; effectively negotiate SLAs/KPIs and understand levers to achieve value. Negotiate and redline service contracts and statements of work using a contract management platform. Generate sourcing insights using spend analytics, industry intel, and benchmarking data. Lead end-to-end competitive sourcing activities (RFx) including bid list generation, requirements, supplier criteria, cost analysis, business case, and award. Maintain sourcing practices in line with corporate ethics, financial policy, and internal controls. Pursue ongoing development of skills in data-driven insights, business partnering, change and project management, category management and strategic sourcing. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Minimum 8–12 years (without Master’s) or 6–8 years (with Master’s) in strategic sourcing & procurement. Preference toward experience in relevant spend categories. Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Medical or Life Sciences experience is a bonus. Relevant experience: 3–5 years in Strategic Sourcing & Procurement across service categories in the R&D space, preferably with CRO and vendor contract oversight. Pharmaceutical/Healthcare/Life Sciences industry experience is a bonus. Technology: Familiar with contract lifecycle management, e-sourcing, spend analytics, and supplier risk management; strong learning capability. Leadership: ability to contribute to and lead cross-functional teams, strong negotiation, communication, and change management skills. Analytics: ability to generate spend analysis and translate insights into action plans. Business Partnering: collaborative approach with business leaders. Demonstrates Business Acumen and Agility; understands business specifics and plans accordingly. Other requirements CPSM/CPM a plus. Travel up to 10%. Compensation The base salary range for this role is $126,200 to $157,800. Base salary is part of a total rewards package including merit-based increases, incentive plan participation, 401(k), medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurances, and leaves in line with work state. Time-off includes flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays, additional time off during year-end shut-down, 80 hours of paid sick time, and total compensation varies by candidate experience and qualifications.
