GHJ Search and Staffing serves as the recruitment division of GHJ, a prominent national accounting and advisory firm. Our team provides qualified Accounting and Finance professionals on a temporary and permanent basis across a broad range of industries.
GHJ Search & Staffing is partnering with our client, a well-established organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, to recruit a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with proven experience in real estate investment, development, and construction.
Our client manages a diverse nine-figure portfolio spanning multifamily, office, luxury single-family development, private equity, and alternative investments.
This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on, strategic CFO to lead the finance function of a prestigious real estate and construction group with a track record of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with ownership and executive leadership to drive long-term financial strategy and growth initiatives.
Lead capital planning, treasury management, and cash flow optimization across multiple entities.
Oversee financing, banking, and lender relationships, including debt covenants and construction financing.
Support decision-making for new developments, acquisitions, dispositions, and 1031 exchanges.
Provide financial modeling and investment analysis (IRR, cash-on-cash, ROI) for real estate and private equity investments.
Advise on risk management, tax strategies, and entity structures (LLCs, Trusts, S Corps, etc.).
Financial Operations & Reporting
Lead the accounting and finance team; oversee the Controller and staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Manage multi-entity consolidations and oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
Present financial results and forecasts to ownership and Board-level stakeholders.
Implement and maintain internal controls, compliance, and financial policies.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
Construction & Asset Management Finance
Oversee construction project financial management, including cost controls, job costing, and loan draws.
Manage pay application processes (AIA 702/703) and reporting packages for active projects.
Review third-party property management reporting and provide oversight on asset performance.
Support business strategy and resource allocation for ongoing and future developments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
CPA required; additional credentials (CFA, CCIM, etc.) a plus.
12+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role (CFO, VP Finance, etc.).
Significant experience in real estate investment, development, construction, and property management.
Proven track record managing banking and lender relationships, including construction financing.
Strong financial modeling and analysis skills (Excel and related tools).
Experience with Yardi, Sage, or similar real estate/accounting platforms strongly preferred.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive presence.
Hands-on and entrepreneurial, with the ability to operate in a lean but highly sophisticated environment.
