Job Overview The officer assists in the processing and maintenance of student's financial aid applications at the School of Medicine. The Officer is responsible for assisting the Associate Dean for Financial Aid with the implementation of all policies and procedures governing institutional financial aid programs. In addition, the Officer is responsible for helping ensure compliance with Title IV and Title VII regulations, other federal regulations as they apply to student financial aid programs and institutional policies in the administration. In collaboration with the other Officers on the team, this position maintains an up-to-date understanding of state, federal and institutional legal, fiscal and statutory regulations pertaining to financial aid and assure compliance for the School of Medicine, along with assisting in the completion of reports for federal and state agencies, annual audits and/or program reviews. Responsibilities The Officer also serves as the primary point of contact for financial aid questions from applicants and admitted students. Leading financial aid presentations during admissions events and presentation days, and providing one-on-one guidance to help prospective students understand the cost of attendance, loan options, and available financial resources at the School of Medicine. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's degree Experience with MS Excel and Access Must have working knowledge of student information systems, with experience in SCT's BANNER desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary as well as strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven ability to interact with all members of a team and administrative staff in a professional and courteous manner. Some experience in Web Design or related activities is required to update content of Financial Aid Web Site. Preferred Requirements One to Two years experience working in Admissions and/or Financial Aid Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team High comfort level working with data Excellent communication and organization skills - written and verbal- attention to detail Ability to multi-task and work on deadlines in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA EEO Statement GU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
