Under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Programs, the Sports Director develops, plans, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates all youth, teen, and adult sports programs. This includes direct oversight of a Sports Coordinator and collaboration with other YMCA department leaders to create a seamless experience for members. The Sports Director works to grow both youth and adult sports participation, build strong leagues and programs, and ensure that the Y is reaching and serving as many families in the community as possible. This leader is responsible for staff development, volunteer engagement, budget management, and positioning the YMCA as a leader in community sports. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience working with youth and adult sports programs, leagues, and volunteer development preferred. Ability to supervise, train, and support program staff and volunteers. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and the community. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire. Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly (occasionally up to 75 lbs). Comfortable standing, bending, and moving quickly to respond to emergencies. Willingness to work in varied temperature environments and on evenings/weekends as needed. Essential Functions

Develop, manage, and monitor the Sports Program operating budget, consistently meeting or exceeding budget targets. Coordinate the development and management of youth, teen, and adult sports programs to meet community needs. Grow adult sports leagues and programs, ensuring strong participation and positive member experiences. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate a Sports Coordinator and other sports staff, creating a motivated and high-performing team. Collaborate with other YMCA departments (membership, wellness, aquatics, youth and family) to cross-promote programs and maximize impact. Position the YMCA as a leader in community sports through empowering participants, building partnerships, and developing a strong volunteer base. Establish and maintain positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, parents, and other community service providers. Coordinate program development including recruitment, retention, team building, training, evaluation, recognition, and volunteer support. Ensure equipment maintenance, field/facility scheduling, and overall site readiness for all programs. Provide direct service and visible leadership presence during practices, games, and events. Provide training and ongoing support to program staff and volunteers. Help identify prospects and solicit donations for the Annual Campaign and community fundraising efforts. Respond promptly to challenges with solution-oriented thinking and maintain professional conduct at all times. Actively participate in staff leadership activities, committee meetings, and strategic planning efforts.
