Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Agile Mission Systems (AMS) group. In this position, you will work in the Weapons Systems Project Engineering Group to support weapon system integrations on Unmanned Aircraft (UA) programs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead or support efforts performing integration, verification and/or validation of weapon systems on GA-ASI’s UA programs
Develop program plans, estimates, and schedules
Develop system/architecture designs, perform system level analysis, and generate requirements
Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements
Develop and present technical material for reviews and meetings
Support lab, ground, and flight test events
Develop/maintain Interface Control Documents, Software Requirement Specifications, Performance Specifications, presentations and review test plans/procedures
Coordinate and interface with customers, contractors, and engineering groups assigned to projects
Support ongoing operation of the weapons systems
Provide support for proposals/white papers for future efforts or capabilities
Provide direction to design or technical staff

Job Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, seven or more years of experience with a master’s degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Able to work extended hours as required.
A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, and invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium are desirable.
Ability to travel to support program and test events (up to 25%)
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience integrating weapons, payloads, or avionics onto aircraft
Experience with weapon or tactical datalinks
Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553 and logical Interface Control Documents
Software programming or embedded systems experience (familiarity with C++, MATLAB, Python, PERL scripting, etc.)
Candidate ideally also has previous project management experience
