Fully Remote About the Opportunity: A leading affordable housing organization seeks a skilled Tax Manager Consultant to oversee all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and planning for its extensive portfolio in California and Hawaii. This is a crucial role focused on ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements for partnerships, corporations, and non-profit entities. If you have a strong background in non-profit and real estate taxation, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise to a mission-driven organization. Responsibilities: Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns for partnerships, LLCs, corporations, and non-profit affiliates. Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and tax disclosures under GAAP. File tax and entity-related documents with state agencies and the IRS, and respond to IRS notices. Advise management on the tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and restructuring transactions. Conduct technical tax research and provide recommendations to senior leadership. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and investors to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting. Establish and manage internal procedures for obtaining authorization signatures on all tax returns and related documents. Develop, implement, and maintain internal tax policies, procedures, and controls. Monitor changes in tax laws, housing regulations, and accounting guidance impacting affordable housing. Assist with tax-related special projects as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of tax experience, with experience handling non-profit returns along with partnerships, corporations, and LLCs Strong understanding of GAAP as it relates to tax provisions and disclosures Experience working with the IRS Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and accounting software such as Yardi Desirable Qualifications: Master’s in Taxation Active CPA or EA license Experience in the Real Estate Industry Experience with Hawaii Tax Returns
