Description
Job Summary:
The Receiving Clerk will receive, inspect, and record shipments of raw materials and products. They will be responsible for unloading packages and checking their contents to ensure they match the orders and meet conformance with product specification. This position will also be responsible for organizing, sorting, and transferring goods to prepare for shipment. They monitor company packages from the start to finish, ensuring proper packing techniques and shipping practices. Receiving Clerks also update shipping records and compile weekly or monthly reports for the management.
Duties/Responsibilities: Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers, supervisor, and purchasing officer per company policy Operate different type of forklifts and material moving equipment while obtaining and maintaining certification through SUN training program Loads and unloads trucks of incoming material shipments while verifying and records all items loaded for shipments Delivering material to appropriate department Utilizing handheld scanner to move inventory through the facility Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments Utilize computer software for investigating any part shortages, missing parts, etc. Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records for requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets Loading and unloading production material from semi-trucks Manages the shipment of all products, materials, and supplies Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions Performs other clerical duties Working overtime as needed to ensure we deliver for our customers Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse procedures Basic computer skills Good organizational skills and attention to detail Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports Good written and verbal communication skills Strong sense of time organization and urgency Able to work independently and within a team Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred Physical Requirements:
Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock
