Following recent wins and a strong pipeline of work, we are expanding our Highways team within our Transportation Practice and are seeking a Principal Engineer to lead teams and projects for a range of existing clients. The role is based in our Bristol office with possible travel to other AtkinsRéalis locations to deliver value for clients. The team is based in Wales & West and works on high‑profile, multi‑disciplinary projects and frameworks, including the A417 Missing Link, A303 Stonehenge and A303 Sparkford to Ilchester Design and Technical Assurance, Lower Thames Crossing, NH SPaTS framework, and collaborations with local authorities in the SWMWRCES, SEWTAPS, WECA, Gloucestershire County Council, Supply the South West and Place & Movement Frameworks. We deliver a wide range of highways schemes across the West and Wales, providing opportunities to develop your career on local transport and strategic highways projects while working with internationally based design teams. Your Purpose: Successfully lead projects and teams, focusing on delivery to time, cost and quality requirements. Work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to drive solutions and best practice. Represent AtkinsRéalis to a range of clients and build a reputation for reliable delivery. Identify, build, and maintain client relationships. Seek out new opportunities and workstreams to grow the local team. Take responsibility for project teams and staff development. What you can bring: The role will be varied, requiring a balance of relevant industry experience, technical ability, communication, and stakeholder management skills. We are looking for people whose experience may include: Experience of leading projects with key clients such as Local Authorities, National Highways, Network Rail, Welsh Government, Developers and/or major Contractors. Detailed knowledge of relevant design standards (e.g., DMRB, MCHW, DfT Manual for Streets, LTNs, Active Travel Design Guidance and those of Welsh Government and National Highways). Ability to deliver work to agreed scopes and budgets, to deliver design packages within set time frames. Ability to prepare reports and specifications for projects and tenders. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of colleagues across multiple disciplines. Experience in leading teams across a range of projects. Supporting teams' professional development. Additionally, you will meet the following criteria: BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Professional qualification (IEng/CEng) with an appropriate institution (such as the ICE, CIHT, or equivalent).
