Starting Salary:

$45,984

This position is covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with

AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5.

The Chicago Department of Public Health is seeking a Senior Office Assistant to perform a variety of complex office assistant duties to support department operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Engages with the public; welcomes program participants and guests into the clinic; directs them to appointments.

• Answers phones and takes messages.

• Uses participant-centered interpersonal skills when engaging with members of the public and program participants.

• Maintains clinic schedule and assists participants in scheduling appointments.

• Pre-screens program applicants to obtain basic demographic data such as name, address, and contact information, ensuring participants are not dually enrolled in services.

• Manages schedule and follows up with participants who miss appointments.

• Verifies identity, residency, and income eligibility, documents in program database.

• Documents any ineligible applicants in program database.

• Provides notification and obtains consent for referrals to other services.

• Reviews participants rights and responsibilities and documents participants' consent and signature.

• Ensures National Voter Registration Act requirements are met when enrolling program participants.

• May take height and weight measurements of program participants and other basic health information as needed.

• Promotes and supports breastfeeding among program participants.

• Supports with periodic community engagement and outreach events at the clinic.

• Gathers, tabulates, and maintains statistical data and prepares related reports as needed.

• Enters documents, records, and information into computer systems.

• Places orders for miscellaneous office supplies.

• Responds to public inquiries about departmental or City programs and services.

• Prepares patient admission forms and folders, receives and records laboratory results.

Monday-Friday

Hours:

8am-4pm - (Mon, Wed, Fri) and 9am-5pm (Tues & Thurs)
