Temporary Task Force Event Planning Manager
Nestled on the northern tip of Isle of Palms, a lush barrier island off the coast of South Carolina, Wild Dunes Resort "the Resort", offers two top-ranked hotels, including the new coastal-modern Sweetgrass Inn, 150 condos, 1,600 acres of world-class golf, tennis, award-winning restaurants, Sweetgrass Spa, and 2 miles of pristine beach on the Isle of Palms, South Carolina. The Resort, also known as Charleston's Island Resort, is located just 30 minutes from the charm and grace of historic downtown Charleston. The Resort is one of Hyatt's unique Destination Lifestyle-branded properties. The Temporary Task Force Event Planning Manager is responsible for the planning and coordination of group bookings. The Event Planning Manager shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Wild Dunes Resort Culture as well as promoting Wild Dunes Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice. Essential Job Functions: Plan & service group business for the resort Interact with all departments of the resort while working in a fast-paced, active sales office Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems with good judgment Maintain a positive working relationship with departments and interacting groups Stay abreast of industry trends and make recommendations for changes that would affect operations Maintain accurate sales productivity forecast, manage budgeted expenses, and recap information Set up and conduct site inspections for the entire property Maintain constant contact and excellent relationships with DH&R National Sales, Representation Firms, and third-party contacts Familiar with the legality of contractual agreements and actively participate in ongoing training opportunities Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team Work with minimal supervision Establishes and maintains effective staff relations Maintain confidentiality of departmental information and pertinent hotel data Maintain a professional demeanor at all times and maintain the work area in a professional, orderly manner Present a positive company image through all phases of public and/or customer interaction Interface positively with other departments, helping when needed Proficiency in executing a sales plan to meet or exceed revenue goals Experience and efficiency in calling on and developing new accounts from local and regional businesses and professional organizations Proficiency in account penetration and mapping to determine influences, coaches, and decision-makers Knowledge of and experience in local social catering and wedding markets, with the ability to sell and service elegant and prestigious events Motivation to conduct direct solicitation and follow up with customers in a targeted, timely, and thoughtful manner Competence in developing and executing targeted sales missions and documenting results Professional to coordinate and conduct customer site inspections Service-oriented, approaching all encounters with guests and colleagues in an attentive and courteous manner Qualifications: Full Time Management Position that requires full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and holidays and a varied schedule A genuine desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment Refined verbal and written communication skills Must be proficient in general computer knowledge Candidates should be highly creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and organized Hotel experience and a thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service Previous experience as an Event Planning Manager/Assistant, Event Services Captain, or Event Services Supervisor preferred Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, strong developer and trainer, and effective in providing exceptional customer service Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis While primarily an indoor job, one must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat) Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat) Primary Location: US-SC-Isle of Palms Organization: Wild Dunes Resort Pay Basis: Yearly Job Level: Seasonal Job: Catering/Event Planning Req ID: ISL001739 Hyatt is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer.
