Job Description
Meridian Community College is seeking a passionate and experienced Precision Machining Engineering Technology Instructor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, CNC machining, and quality control, and a passion for mentoring students for in-demand careers in advanced manufacturing and industrial technology.
Required Qualifications At least three years of verifiable full-time experience in precision manufacturing, machining, or a related industrial field. Strong working knowledge of manual and CNC machining, blueprint reading, measurement tools, and shop math. Experience with manufacturing safety standards, tolerances, materials, and process planning. Familiarity with G-code, CAD/CAM software, and modern shop equipment. An associate degree in Precision Manufacturing, Machining, or a related field
OR
relevant certifications (e.g., NIMS)
OR
military training in manufacturing or machining. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred but not required. Proficiency in curriculum development, instruction, student evaluation, and advising. Ability to use instructional technologies and adapt to emerging tools to enhance student learning. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Precision Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Current industry-recognized credentials such as NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) certifications or OSHA 10/30. Experience operating and programming HAAS CNC machines, including setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Experience with multi-axis CNC machining, CNC programming, and CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks. Prior teaching or training experience in a technical or workforce education setting. Physical Demands
The physical demands for an Precision Manufacturing Instructor typically include:
Standing and Walking: Instructors regularly stand for extended periods while overseeing labs, operating equipment, and assisting students during hands-on training. Lifting and Carrying: The role often requires lifting and moving raw materials, machine components, and training equipment, which may weigh up to 50 pounds or more. Manual Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are essential for operating precision tools, calibrating machinery, and demonstrating intricate manufacturing techniques. Bending and Reaching: Tasks may involve reaching across workbenches or bending to access machine controls, tool storage, or student workstations. Repetitive Motion: Instructors may perform or demonstrate repetitive tasks such as drilling, measuring, or operating CNC machines, requiring physical stamina and control. Safety Awareness: Given the presence of high-speed machinery and sharp tools, instructors must consistently model and enforce rigorous safety protocols.
