The University of Colorado Boulder Police Department (CUPD) is now accepting applications for a Police Dispatcher! This position protects the lives, health, safety, and property of the public by expeditiously receiving, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating, and prioritizing multiple simultaneous emergency requests for law enforcement, fire, ambulance, and rescue services and allocating, deploying, and monitoring the activities of responding units. Responsibilities

Receiving/Prioritizing Calls & Send Appropriate Response:

Make decisions directly impacting the lives, health, safety, and property of the public and law enforcement personnel. Coordinate the deployment and monitor law enforcement and emergency services resources in response to multiple simultaneous emergent calls for service. Documentation of All Incidents:

Records and documents details of call information, resource deployment, response times, unit activity and status, personnel deployment and status, pending incident status, and call loading by accessing and operating the county-wide computer-aided dispatching system. Query & Disseminate from Databases:

Expeditiously processes, coordinates, and relays concise, accurate information by accessing, extracting, analyzing, and interpreting various information resources. Updating & Making Entries into Law Enforcement Databases:

Enter, audit, modify, update, correct, remove, replace, record, document, retrieve, distribute, and secure local, state, and national criminal justice records and databases. Mutual Aid:

Ensure uninterrupted mutual aid and support with public safety communications for the city of Boulder and Boulder County. Support Duties:

Correct minor computer or phone problems, including restarts and logons. The work modality for this position is on-campus. The anticipated shift for this position will be determined upon hire. Requirements

A combination of education and/or proven experience in an occupation related to customer service, emergency management, or public services equal to 5 years. Qualifications

Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously, deal with interruptions, and handle difficult situations under time pressure. Ability to communicate clearly and optimally, receive, comprehend, and rapidly relay accurate information. Ability to maintain self-control during periods of extreme stress and pressure. Demonstrated interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Flexibility and willingness to change. Ability to learn communication systems and use a variety of public safety specific technology and programs efficiently. Ability to obtain CPR certification. What We Would Like You to Have:
