Building Principal and Custodial Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:
A candidate in this position is responsible for providing students, staff, and visitors with a clean, safe, and well-maintained learning environment. This position ensures that classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, gymnasiums, and common areas are properly cleaned, sanitized, and maintained daily. Custodians also support building operations by setting up for school events, monitoring building systems, and reporting maintenance needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other school facilities. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect assigned areas daily. Empty trash and recycling receptacles, ensuring proper disposal. Restock restroom and classroom supplies (soap, paper towels, tissues, etc.). Perform routine inspections of building systems and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors. Assist with snow removal, salting walkways, and keeping entrances safe during inclement weather. Secure the building by locking doors, windows, and setting alarms as directed. Set up and take down furniture and equipment for assemblies, events, and special programs. Monitor and maintain custodial equipment and supplies, requesting repairs or replacements when needed. Support school staff and administrators with special cleaning projects as required. Follow all district safety guidelines, including the proper use of cleaning agents and personal protective equipment (PPE). Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience preferred. Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, buffers, floor scrubbers, and lawn/snow equipment. Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, safety procedures, and proper use of chemicals. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow schedules and instructions. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in various weather conditions when performing outdoor duties.
Work Environment
: Primarily indoors in a school environment, with some outdoor work as needed. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and occasional loud noise.
