Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Claims Specialist to become a vital part of our team. This role can be performed from any of our offices including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or San Antonio, as well as remotely from anywhere in the continental United States. You will report to a manager based in New York City, focusing on adjudicating complex first and third party commercial environmental claims, primarily related to storage tank issues, while delivering excellent results for our clients. Key Responsibilities Independently adjudicate complex commercial environmental claims with significant technical challenges under minimal oversight. Conduct thorough investigations, including detailed information gathering and analysis, to resolve undefined issues. Communicate trends and developments in claims to senior management and underwriters. Review claims forms, policies, endorsements, and other documentation to ascertain coverage and liability. Promptly investigate claims by interviewing all relevant parties. Manage claims involving litigation. Efficiently manage tasks and diary to ensure timely resolution and optimal financial outcomes. Set claim reserves accurately, considering the impact of policy wordings on the reserving process. Identify loss drivers and emerging claims patterns to enhance claims management and reduce incidence. Coordinate expert resources to facilitate swift case resolution. Prepare accurate reports for internal documentation. Apply innovative solutions to achieve favorable financial outcomes. Negotiate effectively to provide cost-efficient solutions that benefit the company and our clients. Manage correspondence and prioritize workload proficiently. Engage in meaningful communication with all parties involved (insured, claimant, etc.). Foster a strong passion for effective claims management. Core Qualifications Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of insurance operations and profitability. A minimum of seven years of experience in adjudicating complex commercial environmental claims with exposures of $100,000 or above. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required, J.D. preferred. Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree. Licensed Claims Examiner or the ability to obtain licensure for each jurisdiction where required within 120 days.
